Black & White Film

Here are some photos that have been stimulating me lately.
I've not been able to get away from combining efforts to create something with my Canon AE-1 & rolls of Black and White film. There is a lot of exploration to be found this year & I'm enjoying delving into it.

All photos cited on my pinterest.

Many Beautiful Changes

Oh friends, I hope my absence from blogging hasn't caused any loss of interest. My life lately has been in a crazy, beautiful transition. On June twenty-first Nathan and I got married!!! There is so much busyness and manic that leads into planning a wedding, so that is my unconvincing excuse for not consistantly writing.

There are so many things I want to tell you about that day; the most magical, precious day of my life… I could go on for hours about the small details and how I'm going to treasure everyone of them, but instead I'm going to let pictures speak for my words. We had three of our close friends document our wedding day. Christian Gideon shot digital photography, our friend Roger Ellsworth flew in and shot all black & white film, and David Fiser came in to shoot video. I am looking forward to sharing my favorite bits and pieces from our special day with you.

If I could, I would post the lot of them on this page, but instead I'll do my best to curate them and post each of the boys' work separately. In the mean time you guys should pop on over to Christian, David, and Roger's blogs to sift through these photos yourself and see their amazing work. We were so lucky to have our talented friends experience this day with us and document it in their unique ways. We will cherish these forever.

Once again friends, thank you for being patient with me while my life makes a huge alteration.

Warmly // Sarah

Natural Look || Beauty

Hello lovely readers. Alexa here to share with you my go-to eye makeup. I love this eye because you can dress it up or down, depending on the lip. Lets begin!

I start by prepping the area around my eye and create my brows (you can find my brow tutorial here). Normally, I would prep my eye and finish my shadow before applying my foundation, but for the sake of the tutorial, I went ahead and finished everything. I do that to keep the fall-out from the eye shadow from my face.
Next, I apply a taupe or ash brown shadow to my crease, and into the outer corner. I apply it with a bigger shadow brush, like the one shown in the photo. I make sure to follow my natural eye shape while doing this.

After that, I use a smaller, more precise brush to apply a warmer brown to the outer corner, and halfway up the crease. This color also goes on the bottom lash line. I apply by looking upward and sweeping back and forth.

A deeper brown is then applied to the outer corner and blended slightly along the top lash line. I use an off white shadow on the lid, inner corner and brow bone, and then blend with the same brush.

I take an angled brush and dip it in my liner, and draw a small line starting from the corner of my eye, and drawing toward the end of my brow. I create a small triangle and fill it in, and then continue brushing my liner along my top lash line.

Using a white pencil, I color in my water line on the bottom, and also the inner corner. This will make the eyes appear bigger.

Finish off with some mascara.

 Thanks for reading!

Have a lovely Valentine's Day from Alexa & Sarah.

Our Engagement

As most of you know Nate & I got engaged back in September on our trip to Oregon. It was the most perfect moment created. This man walked into my life a couple of years ago and made it so much better. I love him much.
Last month, our dear and talented (not to mention beautiful) friend Kinsey ventured with us to Arkansas to capture some official Engagement Photos. Kinsey did an incredible job, of course. I had to share with you all way too many photo's from the shoot, because there are too many goodies to keep them all to my self. I hope you enjoy this little photo story.
